Local Parksville and Qualicum Beach region residents and visitors alike were encouraged to vote for the attractions they felt best represented the truly unique experience of our region between August 1 and August 31 of 2007. Here are the Seven Wonders of Oceanside in alphabetical order:

  • Cathedral Grove
A BC Provincial Park preserving a section of lush 800-year-old old growth forest.  “The trees are unbelievable, some have trunks wider than a car.”  Unforgettable.
  • Horne Lake Caves
Experience the magic of the underground world.
  • Milner Gardens and Woodlands
One of the ten best public gardens in Canada
  • Rathtrevor Beach Park
World class beach; miles of sand; warm and shallow at low tide.
  • The Aquarium at The Landing Restaurant
View the 27,000 litre saltwateraquarium while dining– mesmerizing!
  • The Boot at Paradise Adventure Golf
Two exquisite quarter-scale miniature golf courses, flowers, fountains and fantasy scenes featuring a pirate galleon, 45’ tall “there was an old woman…” shoe, a Victorian mansion, and more.
  • The Old School House Arts Centre
Features monthly exhibitions by BC artists.  Resident artists and gift shop; a cultural focal point of the region.

An “Eighth Wonder” nominated by Big Tent RV Park and Campground staff is another not-to-miss experience…

  • Top Bridge Park
Mountainbike trails and river swimming – winding river, fresh water, and surrounding forest.  Take your inner tube and let the current take you back to Big Tent!   Dog walking park at the entrance to the top bridge trail.
